Cole Mefford

Estimator/ Project Manager

From a young age, Cole has had a passion for wildlife and creating valuable habitats. After volunteering with a native plant nursery in high school, he became involved in habitat restoration projects facilitated by his university, California State University, Monterey Bay. Working alongside government agencies and community nonprofits, Cole organized and carried out various native plant restoration projects on county, state, and federal land. Over the years, he developed an intimate knowledge of local dune and chapparal habitats and the associated flora and fauna that occupy them. In addition to gaining an extensive understanding of habitat restoration, Cole simultaneously pursued opportunities in environmental interpretation and education, earning his Certificate of Interpretive Guiding. In 2022, he graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay with a BS in Agricultural Plant & Soil Sciences.

His work with RANA focuses on estimating projects, materials procurement, and ongoing project management. In addition to those core responsibilities, Cole utilizes his background in plant sciences to assist in creating plant propagation and establishment protocols, as well as evaluating environmental conditions at various restoration sites.

In his free time, he enjoys volunteering at the Monterey County SPCA Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center as well as the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
